DETERIORATION

Ensemble: Parker Quartet

Deterioration is an emotional landscape and timeline detailing the gradual worsening of my grandmother. This piece has three interconnected movements: (I) illustrates her prior self where she was witty, active, and social; (II) frames her four-year deterioration into worse health; (III) reflected her final moments in a nursing home.

IN SHADOWS WE LIVE, THE SHADOWS WE ARE

Choir: The Crossing

In Shadows We Live, The Shadows We Are is a tribute to a burning philosophical question critical to many Russian literature novels, including Goethe's 'Faust' and Dostoevsky's 'Crime and Punishment'. This piece deals with the conception of Good vs. Evil, and how Good needs the existence of Evil in order to truly define Good, and vice versa.

ALONE TOGETHER

Ensemble: Broken Frames Syndicate

Alone Together is inspired by the phenomenon that we will never truly know someone completely, as there will always be a part hidden from others; however this shouldn’t stop us from forming relationships and human connection. This piece represents how we each live in some solitary aspect, but in a paradoxical way we are all alone together.

OUR LIVING PLANET

Choir: Ensemble Veritas

Our Living Planet portrays the Earth as a living being, and discusses how destroying it will lead to our own demise. Earth provides us with life, but is burning alive and trying to survive as we continue to test its limits, whose outcomes we ultimately fear in our lack of comprehension and preparedness for the future.
